Eat for your Dosha

Ready to level up? Do some research into your dosha—and start eating for it! Once you’ve discovered your dominant dosha type (Vata, Pitta, or Kapha), you can structure your meals to find balance.

Vata (space + air)

Warming, cooked, hearty foods with a good amount of fat are great for Vata. Stick to cooked vegetables; raw vegetables are mostly off the menu. However, raw fruits can be enjoyed if they’re very ripe. Warm up with hot drinks like tea and meals like soup and dal.

Pitta (fire + water)

Both warm and cool foods, cooked and raw, can be included when cooking for Pitta. Cooked legumes, as well as whole grains, will round out your meals and keep you fuller for longer.

Kapha (water + earth)

Spicy, lightly cooked meals are favorable to Kapha. This dosha type should look to consume less fat and salt but can boost flavor in their cooking with a variety of spices, such as ginger and cumin, along with fresh and dried chilis.
